We are currently recruiting a senior SHEQ manager to manage occupational, environmental, health and safety risks related to its business activities. While the incumbent will be based at the Montague Gardens business unit, (s)he will be required to provide an oversight role for the other Novus Print business unit. The successful incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring group health and safety compliance and reporting. The successful incumbent will report to the Novus Print Executive: Operations with a dotted line to Group Executive Print: Operations.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Develop work procedures and policies aligned with OHSA, SANS and other relevant acts such as BCEA and LRA as well as all organisational policies and standards
- Maintain ISO systems and accreditation (ISO14001, 45001, 31001)
- Develop, schedule, and implement risk assessments
- Conduct accident investigations and reporting of injuries and incidents
- Compile and implement an emergency preparedness plan, including communications with all stakeholders, external service providers and authorities (DEL, SAPS, Fire and Emergency services, disaster management, etc.)
- Compile and ensure implementation of a contractor’s control program and project-based health and safety programs
- Compile HSE monthly reports
- Implement awareness programmes to promote health and safety in the workplace
- Managing onsite service providers and contractors (Security, Fire Fighting Systems, Hygiene, Cleaning and Pest Control,Waste Management, Gardening Services)
- Develop and control an annual HSE budget and develop capital expenditure for risk reduction projects
- Conduct internal audits: Operational HSE Processes and Procedures, Insurance Risk Exposure Assessments, ISO Standards, Contractor Compliance

**Educational Requirements**:

- Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., BTech or National Diploma in Health and Safety management)

**Experience Requirements**:

- A minimum of 5 years’ working experience in a large manufacturing environment in a supervisory or management level
- At least 10 years’ general health and safety experience in a large sized organisation as a Risk Control Practitioner/HSE Officer, preferably in a Major Hazard Installation Facility
- In depth knowledge of the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Disease Act (COIDA)
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the Municipal bylaws and regulations
- Proven knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 31001 standards
