IT Systems Administrator

As a Systems Administrator/Support Manager, you'll play a crucial role in upholding the seamless operation of our Windows domain, Linux servers, and supporting our in-house team.
Your ability to troubleshoot, document solutions, and provide leadership will drive the efficiency of our IT systems.
You will work closely with the general IT Manager and offer your expertise to help desk technicians, ensuring the effective resolution of 3rd line support issues.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
**IT System Maintenance and Support**:
- Oversee the Microsoft Windows servers, routinely checking the event viewer for potential issues.
- Administer Department Profile software within the Group Policy.
- Handle the pfSense firewall, including adding necessary routes/services.
- Network management tasks such as setting up new switches, monitoring for issues, and understanding VLAN configurations.
- Oversee Proxy servers, particularly Squid on the Linux OS.
- Administer MS SQL Servers, including database installation and maintenance.
- Ensure backups run seamlessly, intervene in case of errors, and perform restores as necessary.
- Manage telephony systems, creating new Access Control tags and extensions.
**Documentation and Compliance**:
- Thoroughly document resolutions and procedures for future reference.
- Implement and maintain company computer policies to guarantee data security.
- Update computer inventory and the user database.
- Uphold stringent confidentiality concerning information accessed, stored, or processed during user support.
**User Support and Communication**:
- Offer 3rd line assistance to help desk technicians.
- Address issues logged on the company help desk ticket system, updating users at regular intervals.
- Be available for out-of-hours support for branches in varying time zones on a rotational basis.
**Additional Tasks**:
- Assist in IT report generation.
- Understand and operate standard software, hardware, and equipment.
- Undertake assignments from the General IT Manager.
- Execute hardware and software installations.
**Qualities and Competencies**:
- Display ownership over issues, ensuring resolution.
- Manage and meet project deadlines.
- Document any external factors causing project delays.
- Continually suggest improvements.
- Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and responsibility.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive IT experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in Windows and Linux servers.
- Robust knowledge in networking and network security.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Prior management experience will be considered a plus.
- Fluency in European languages (e.g., Dutch, French, German, or Spanish) is advantageous.
- Solid excel and reporting skills.
- A solutions-focused mindset.
