The main purpose of this position is to provide managerial leadership of the Immediate Settlement (IMMS), Corporation for Public Deposits (CPD) and Core Banking section in the Financial Services Department (FSD) of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) to ensure systems availability as well as oversee the processing of banking transactions to ensure validity, accuracy and timeliness.
Detailed Description
Compile the section’s operational plan and take responsibility for the implementation as well as the monitoring thereof.
- Define and develop processes, standards, methods and tools and put in place internal controls to manage risk and ensure the validity and accuracy of banking transactions.
- Define, plan and allocate work for others in the team in alignment with the departmental and operational plans.
- Manage the systems administration team and ensure systems availability through first-line systems support, maintenance and changes.
- Define and manage the implementation of the end-user testing approach for systems-related projects and changes as and when required.
- Manage the accounting function in accordance with the accounting and SARB policies, relevant accounting standards and acts.
- Fulfil the line management function pertaining to the development and performance of the team.
- Oversee and manage the IMMS, CPD and Core Banking section, clarify roles and responsibilities as well as optimise section resources to ensure the seamless fulfilment of functions.
- Design a reporting approach and provide consistent and accurate reports to senior management.
- Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships, displaying the ability to lead senior-level engagements.
- Participate on behalf of FSD in various task teams and working groups and liaise with all departments and subsidiaries of the SARB to ensure that the movement of payments and matters are in accordance with the banking standards and requirements.
Job Requirements
an Honour’s degree (NQF 8) in Banking or Finance or an equivalent qualification; and
- 8-10 years’ experience in a financial services environment of which 3-5 years should be in a management position.
