Assistant Portfolio Manager

**KEY RESULT AREA**
1. Research, analysis and making recommendations
- Researches and evaluates investment markets to understand the underlying investment factors driving performance.
- Establishing or aligning with the in-house factor portfolio blend chosen.
- Continuously evaluating whether the strategic factor blend is appropriate given market conditions.
- Establishing or aligning with the tactical or dynamic factor blend chosen by the fund. Continuously refining this given market conditions.
- Defining or refining factor definitions in different markets that produce an investment edge.
- Extending factor/systematic investing across different asset classes.
2. Portfolio construction
- Develops and maintains quantitative/analytic models to support portfolio construction.
- Incorporate real world dynamics like cost and market depth to ascertain whether a certain systematic strategy is implementable in the real world
3. Portfolio management
- Assists the Systematic Portfolio Manager to;
- maintain and implement the optimal portfolio that reflects the portfolio’s investment philosophy.
- maintain and implement systems which support financial risk management efforts to remain within risk budget limits.
- contribute to the Total Fund’s portfolio by slanting factor exposure within each asset class to the Fund’s strategic factor blend.
- Importantly, can fully cover portfolio management in the absence of the Portfolio Manager (in the case of leave for example).
**TECHNICAL COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS**
- In-depth knowledge of financial and listed investment markets
- In-depth knowledge of listed equities. Further knowledge of other asset classes will be advantageous.
- Excellent quantitative abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of a wide variety of valuation methodologies and systems to test thesis/ideas.
- In-depth knowledge of legislation governing investments within portfolio
- In-depth knowledge of Industry developments relevant portfolio
- Knowledge of CFA Code of Conduct
**REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/TRAINING**
- At least an Honours’ Degree (major in math, stats, economics, engineering, or finance preferably)
- Completed CFA or Masters’ degree will be advantageous.
REQUIRED MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE
- At least 6 years job-related experience in a quantitative role (systematic strategies experience will be advantageous)
