Job Description

Role Purpose

Provide stakeholders with effective and efficient personal lines underwriting services according to the required standards and procedures in order to retain existing clients and secure new business in support of the business strategy.

Financial

  1. Ensure new business targets are met
  2. Ensure Binder fees targets are met
  3. Ensure retention of existing clients
  4. Ensure and contribute to minimisation of general expenses

Client

  1. Ensure that all stakeholder (e.g. clients, AE's, insurers) communication is accurate, timeous, professional and relevant
  2. Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  3. Ensure and contribute to achieving own and company required client satisfaction targets

Business Processes

  1. Adhere to company processes, service level agreements, quality assurance targets and broader regulatory frameworks wrt the following processes (but not limited to):
    1. General Enquiries such as but not limited to cover, products, processes etc
    2. New Business, Renewals, Endorsements and Re-broke
      1. Conduct risk assessments
      2. Analyse clients' portfolios
      3. Request, obtain and assess quotes from insurers
      4. Rate policies
      5. Request, obtain and/or provide clients with all required information and/or documents
      6. Arrange valuations and reinsurance
      7. Raise premiums
      8. File all relevant documentation electronically and in hard copy
      9. Upsell cover to clients where appropriate
    3. Cancellations
      1. Follow retention processes
      2. Cancel the policy on the system
      3. Confirm cancellation request with the client
      4. File all relevant documentation electronically and in hard copy
    4. Refunds
      1. Raise invoices
      2. Request refunds from line manager electronically
      3. File all relevant documentation electronically and in hard copy
  2. Adhere to company mandates
  3. Participate and contribute in ad hoc projects
  4. Report any suspected fraud, misrepresentation and/or dishonesty
  5. Keep accurate record of own activities

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications & Skills

  1. Matric or equivalent
  2. FAIS Compliant
  3. Computer Literate
  4. Excellent communication skills
  5. Excellent customer services skills

Minimum Experience

  1. 3 years' experience working in a client services environment
  2. 3 years' experience as a Personal Lines Underwriter
