Responsibilities : To provide expert advice and support to members and other key stakeholders on labour law and labour disputes daily. To represent SAMATU members at grievance processes, disciplinary hearings, conciliations and arbitrations to ensure adherence to fair labour practice. Refer dispute cases to the Bargaining councils and CCMA on behalf members Prepare documents and witnesses for grievance disciplinary conciliations and Arbitrations Appeal on behalf of members Developing effective relationships with the business to promote good employee relations across the organisation Ensure that all collective bargaining demands from members are consolidated, researched and submitted for negotiations. Assist and guide the Labour Relations unit with individual disputes at various dispute resolution forums, including HPSCA. Drafting collective agreements, policies and procedures relating to this function and ensure they are submitted timeously and where required implemented effectively. Attend to members who walk into the office wishing to have audience with the trade union, Provide advice to on labour related issues, Attend and participate in meetings between the employer and organized labour, Prepare, draft and file appeals for members against outcomes of misconduct hearings, Lodge representations against abscondments terminations or deemed dismissals against members Attend meetings relating to the Trade Union's function including COSATU, CEC, Alliance Summit, Denosa Research To keep abreast of current legal trends and labour law and ensure that effective research is conducted on precedents to ensure that accurate advice, representation and negotiation can be done on behalf of the SAMATU members. Labour Relations writes an article on the current labour law changes, precedents, and trends to empower doctors and also host Labour Relations Indabas. Provide feedback to all internal stakeholders after meetings to ensure effective knowledge sharing and generation of actions to address current concerns, trends or opportunities. Build and maintain effective working relationships with external key stakeholders to ensure that SAMATU is at the forefront of negotiations and latest news and trends in the Collective Bargaining arena Reporting Monitor current trends in the public health service and proactively advise members of changes through publications of Labour Relations articles. Ensure that all Labour Relations enquiries and disputes are correctly captured onto the case management system thereby ensuring that all cases are managed effectively and efficiently. Capture cases on the Labour Relations database Oversight reports and write Labour Relations reports Training and Experience Required Diploma in Labour Law or equivalent LLB advantage years in similar role 5-10 years experience in the public healthcare sector Knowledge Extensive knowledge of Labour Laws such as LRA, BCEA, OHSA, PSA, EEA, etc. Knowledge of Government Regulations and Policies Knowledge of Public Service Collecting agreements Understanding of Collective Bargaining and Union Environment Knowledge of the laws, regulations, and procedures of collective bargaining. Knowledge of rules and standards of conduct in the public sectors.
