Xylem Kempton Park, Gauteng, South Africa Apply for the position of Logistics Specialist at Xylem Job Summary The Logistics Specialist will manage and optimize the movement of goods and materials across Xylem’s supply chain in the relevant region. This role ensures timely delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance with global standards while supporting Xylem’s sustainability goals and customer commitments. Responsibilities Freight and Logistics Liaising with suppliers (Intercompany and 3rd Party) to optimize supply and reduce lead times. Oversee order fulfillment, ensuring that customer orders are processed accurately and delivered on time. Coordinate with distribution and logistics teams to optimize shipping and delivery processes. Identify potential supply chain disruptions and develop contingency plans to mitigate risks such as transportation issues or supplier production lead time changes. Manage logistics quotations for shipment with current 3-PL/4-PL service providers. Liaise with freight forwarders to ensure smooth shipping and clearance of cross trades, import and export orders. Create Smart Support Purchase Requisitions for shipments. Consolidate and optimize shipments. Close Smart Support Purchase Requisitions when completed. Attend weekly Outlook meetings to comment on shipment status (on time delivery, collection & possible freight delays). Supplier Management Establish and maintain relationships with current portfolio of suppliers for freight and accurate ETA. Ensure supplier (freight forwarder) contract compliance. Oversee performance management of all 3PL service suppliers (freight forwarders). Scorecard and follow up. Act as XPS Supplier Pillar Owner for Transportation. Processes and Continuous Improvement Contribute to Continuous Improvement Activities using lean / six sigma methodologies. Investigate pain points within current processes and assist in developing solutions to resolve conflicts and inefficiencies. Analyze category spend to look for opportunities to support the category. Develop and implement cost‑saving initiatives in allocated categories. Map all supply chain processes in Visio/Excel. Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management. Minimum 3 years relevant experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management within an international organization. Strong knowledge of international shipping, customs regulations, and incoterms in similar industry. Proficiency in MS Office, relevant ERP systems and logistics software. Excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills. Strong communication and negotiation abilities. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to work overtime as and when required.
