Job Overview Responsible for the purchase of non‑production materials and services for Daimler Trucks Southern Africa, ensuring the highest quality goods and services at the best value while maintaining equitable and transparent purchasing processes in compliance with the Company’s Integrity, Anti‑Bribery, Conflict of Interest, Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality requirements. Delegated SHERQ tasks and duties are performed, and deviations are reported to superiors. Key Duties and Responsibilities Business Unit enhancement: Participate in the formulation of global commodity management strategies for non‑production materials and services and be responsible for local defined National Buy Strategies. Purchasing Performance: Procure cost‑effective non‑production materials and services; ensure cost optimisation and transparency across the supply chain and achieve departmental operational targets. Supplier Management: Interact with global and local vendors and the Purchasing Services network (IPS/GPN) to develop long‑term relationships, achieving long‑term targets set in the EBSC and conducting vendor price negotiations in line with IPS Services targets. Quality Assurance: Support cross‑functional processes for materials and services and maintain an uninterrupted flow of non‑production materials and services. Knowledge and Innovation: Initiate and facilitate supplier development using new technologies and processes as per supplier minimum requirements; suggest changes in line with BBBEE codes of practice as defined by the DTI. Preferential procurement: Report, analyse, and forecast PP performance for DTSA, continuously monitor PP performance, improve PP score, and provide guidance to management on improving performance. Internal Control System (ICS): Maintain and report on ICT controls on the ICoM system; assess and evaluate all ISR controls during the Initial Self‑Assessment (ISA) and Final Self‑Assessment (FSA) periods. Qualifications Matric/Grade 12 plus 3‑year relevant qualification (Degree in Purchasing) (B Com/B‑Tech) or equivalent. Experience 3 to 5 years’ experience in a specialised field such as Purchasing, Supply Chain, Project Management, Logistics, Marketing, or IT. Special Knowledge Computer literacy (MS Office, SAP/R3, Lotus Notes). Excellent communication skills. Ability to negotiate on all levels. Understanding of the new BBBEE codes. Additional courses in Purchasing, Logistics, Supply Chain, Accounting, Business Operations, Economics, Statistics, or Project Management (added advantage).
