This role provides actionable insights to enhance profitability, manage risks, optimise working capital, and improve forecast accuracy through integrated business planning (IBP), data analytics, and predictive modelling. It actively partners with various functions to support informed, data-driven decision-making in a dynamic business environment.**Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):*** Conduct in-depth financial performance analysis, leveraging market indicators and performance metrics to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities.* Assess the integrated value chain to uncover initiatives that protect and enhance enterprise value.* Deliver insights to leadership on margin management, cost efficiency, earnings performance, and working capital optimization.* Partner with business unit teams to evaluate business decisions and options.* Support long-term strategic planning and capital investments through comprehensive financial modelling.* Guide decision-making to enhance value and mitigate risks across volume, revenue, margin, and profit streams.* Provide focused financial support for monthly integrated business planning (EBM) and S&OP processes.* Drive monthly forecasting and annual business planning activities.* Utilize advanced analytics and predictive models to support risk-informed decision-making and outcome forecasting.* Analyze profitability at customer, product, terminal, and value chain levels to identify improvement opportunities.* Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and reporting aligned to business leadership priorities.* Collaborate with business and support teams to review portfolio profitability and implement initiatives for margin, volume, and working capital enhancement.* Evaluate performance metrics to uncover strengths, weaknesses, and threats, supporting teams in addressing performance gaps.* Champion initiatives to enhance reporting processes, systems, and data integrity.**Professional Qualification and Certifications:**Tertiary Qualification (Bachelors or National Diploma) in Commerce, Accounting, Business AdministrationCA(SA)/ CIMA qualificationFinancial modelling and/or data analysis certification advantageous**Work Experience:**3+ years work experience in a financial or management reporting role.Oil and gas, agriculture, mining, supply chain, manufacturing and/or FMCG experience highly advantageous.**Knowledge and skills:*** Strong financial and analytical skills, commercial acumen* Good communication skills (written and verbal)* Understanding of commercial business performance and value drivers* Understanding of the industry, preferably manufacturing and/or FMCG* Attention to detail* Business writing and communication (including presentations)* Experience relevant to this position will be an advantage.* Ability to produce high quality, insightful analysis and recommendations* Ability to work with large data sets and complex variables* Proficiency in Excel, Word and Power Point* SAP, SAC and PowerBI knowledge advantageous**Personal attributes:*** Flexible, resilient and adaptable in a dynamic environment**Application deadline:**04 January 2026Astron Energy is a leading supplier of petroleum products in South Africa, with a vast network of Caltex-branded service stations that make us one of the country’s top two petroleum brands.
