SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

Location South Africa, Somerset West (In Office) Report To Head of Project Management Key Purpose of Job The key purpose of the role is to lead and deliver high‑impact, complex projects that drive strategic business growth by ensuring full compliance with contractual obligations, budgets, and schedules, while enforcing project management standards and proactively managing risks through effective negotiation and change control. Key Tasks Contractual Programme/Project Execution Successfully manages and directs critical, high‑impact projects, ensuring strict adherence to contractual obligations, timelines, and budgets Oversees strategic business growth initiatives from initiation to closeout, ensuring full compliance with legal, financial, and regulatory requirements Establishes and enforces company‑wide project management standards and methodologies Negotiates scope, change requests, and agreements with customers, vendors, and subcontractors to maximise project success and mitigate risks Planning and Strategy Leads project planning, overseeing risk mitigation and contingency strategies at an organisational level Aligns project portfolios with broader business and budgetary objectives, ensuring maximum return on investment; prioritisation, long‑term view projects Conducts in‑depth feasibility studies, resource allocation, and cost estimations to maximise efficiency and financial performance Reporting and Communication Establishes and enforces clear, structured communication channels with stakeholders, including executives, clients, board members, and cross‑functional teams Defines key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and enhance R&D project performance Consolidates and generates KPI metrics across business functions Leadership and Team Management Sets and enforces high‑performance standards, engages teams, and ensures alignment with business objectives Responsible for management of project coordinators with parallel oversight of project managers’ activities ensuring optimal team performance and efficiency Technical Collaboration Works closely with systems engineers, executives, and technical teams to ensure technical requirements align with business strategy Drives technical discussions, ensuring full alignment between customer expectations, technological advancements, and business strategies Upholds compliance with industry standards, quality assurance processes, cybersecurity protocols, and regulatory guidelines General Responsibilities Company‑wide accountability for project deliverables and overall success Defines and refines project management policies to enhance operational efficiency Innovates and continuously improves processes, integrating emerging technologies and industry best practices Leads risk assessment and mitigation efforts to drive sustainable project success Engages with internal and external stakeholders at all levels to ensure strategic alignment and successful execution Ensures adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices Line Management Time and attendance management Identifies resource constraints and requirements as needed Conducts performance management Supports Health & Safety Prerequisites & Qualifications & Experience Qualification Bachelors’ or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electronic, Mechatronic, Mechanical, Software) or equivalent Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) or equivalent executive leadership training – a must Experience & Knowledge 7+ years of experience in project management, with at least 4 years in a senior or supervisory project management role Proven track record of successfully leading large‑scale, high‑technology, and multi‑stakeholder projects Expert-level knowledge of project management methodologies (PMBOK, Agile, PRINCE2) Experience in managing complete product lifecycle development in a technical environment – non‑negotiable Demonstrated ability to manage cross‑functional teams, with change management experience, leading teams through transformation or strategic initiatives Additional Knowledge Areas that would Strengthen the Application Knowledge of satellite subsystems and the space environment Deep understanding of quality assurance, compliance, and regulatory frameworks relevant to the Aerospace or Defence industry Competencies & Skills Positive self‑motivated, self‑starter attitude Responsible Team player Good written and oral communication skills Customer focused Able to persuade and influence others Flexible and able to multi‑task, can work within an ambiguous, fast‑moving environment Resourcefulness in setting priorities #J-18808-Ljbffr
