Job Purpose Support the SLR Africa Water and Wastewater Engineering team in Fourways by leading surface water modelling and engineering projects, including flood, water balance, dam break and water quality modelling. Cover the entire project lifecycle, from proposal development and general project management to client correspondence and junior staff guidance. Support business development to grow the specialist field. Responsibilities Develop and interpret flood inundation models. Provide input on water components for EIAs and mining waste management projects. Develop high‑quality technical reports for clients. Manage multi‑disciplinary projects, leading an internal team and liaising with clients and consulting teams. Mentor and manage junior engineers and hydrologists. Conduct site visits and inspections within SA and globally. Assist with broader water engineering activities. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, hydrology or equivalent. At least 10 years of experience in water engineering and modelling. At least 5 years of experience using HEC‑RAS or equivalent. Conceptual understanding of industrial and mine water management. Independent deliverable production. Proficiency in MS Office. Valid driver’s license. Other Beneficial Skills/Qualities Master’s degree or higher. Professional registration (e.g., ECSA). Consulting experience. Expertise in stochastic modelling, climatology, dam break assessments, water balance, surface water impact, non‑Newtonian fluids, regulatory requirements, water quality, and independence. Experience with GIS, PhreeqC, GoldSim, HEC‑HMS, CAD, Tuflow, Cormix, coding (R/Python), PCSWMM, MUK3D. Deliver within budget and schedule. Strong writing, communication, time‑management, multi‑tasking, prioritization, attention to detail, problem‑solving.
