Direct message the job poster from Smart4 Energy Senior Recruitment Partner - EMEA | Connecting Top Talent with Leading Renewable Energy Investors & Developers About the Role We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially astute Senior Financial Modeller to join an advisory team in either JHB or Cape Town. The role is central to building and maintaining bespoke Excel-based financial models for large-scale infrastructure and energy projects, many of which involve limited recourse debt financing. You'll work across the full project lifecycle—from early-stage feasibility to financial close and operational reporting—spanning sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure, mining, private healthcare, real estate, and agriculture. This is an opportunity to sharpen your technical skills while engaging with seasoned advisors, clients, and lenders on complex, high-impact transactions. Key Responsibilities Build, refine, and maintain advanced project finance models in Microsoft Excel Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to assess project viability and risk Support transaction advisory and project finance workstreams Translate model outputs into clear, actionable insights and reports Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders on assumptions and structures Maintain structured data books and version‑controlled assumption sets (Senior responsibility) Review models prepared by others and mentor junior modellers Required Skills & Experience 4+ years' relevant experience in financial modelling or project finance Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; VBA experience advantageous Proven track record in developing and updating project finance models Solid grasp of limited recourse project finance principles and cash flow structuring Ability to convert technical results into commercial insights Strong communication and report‑writing skills Experience with bidding processes for energy or infrastructure projects is advantageous Education Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field Sector Focus Experience (or strong interest) in : Renewable energy and decarbonization Mining and natural resources Private healthcare, real estate, and agriculture Why Join Exposure to high-profile projects across diverse sectors from day one Opportunity to develop technical mastery in financial modelling and transaction support Pathways to transactor / dealmaker roles and leadership positions within the team Collaborative, entrepreneurial culture with flexible working arrangements Clear career growth in a dynamic, high-impact advisory environment Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Full-time Job function Finance and Analyst #J-18808-Ljbffr
