Duties & Responsibilities PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: This position forms part of the ITC Operations & Infrastructure group and focuses on the planning, implementing, and deployment of IT systems.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Technical Specialism: Maintains an in-depth knowledge of specific technical specialisms and provides expert advice regarding their application. Can supervise specialist technical consultancy. Emerging Technology Monitoring: Monitors the market to gain knowledge and understanding of currently emerging technologies. Identifies new and emerging hardware and software technologies and products based on own area of expertise. Project Management: Takes full responsibility for the definition, documentation, and satisfactory completion of medium-scale projects. Identifies, assesses, and manages risks to the success of the project. Systems Installation/Decommissioning: Takes responsibility for installation projects, providing effective team leadership and ensuring information flow to and from the customer during project work. Capacity Management: Drafts and maintains policy, standards, and procedures for service component capacity management. Service Level Management (SLMO): Ensures that service delivery meets agreed service levels and diagnoses service delivery problems. Configuration Management: Manages configuration items (CIs) and related information. System Software: Evaluates new system software, reviews updates, and ensures that operational documentation for system software is fit for purpose. Applications Support: Maintains application support processes and checks that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures. Database Administration: Drafts and maintains procedures and documentation for databases. Supplier Relationship Management: Maintains a broad understanding of the commercial IT environment and manages contracts with suppliers. Desired Experience & Qualification · A 4-year bachelor’s degree or an honours degree (NQF level 8) in Information Technology or bachelor’s degree/advanced diploma (NQF level 7) in Information Technology with relevant IT certifications.· A minimum of 6 years’ experience in Systems Project Management.· A minimum of 6 years’ experience working in an enterprise IT environment.KEY FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: · Technical specialism (Level 5) – Automation, Scripting· Emerging technology monitoring (Level 5) – Kubernetes· Project management (Level 5)· Systems installation/decommissioning (Level 5)· Capacity management (Level 5)· Configuration management (Level 5) – Git, Ansible· System software (Level 5) – Windows, Linux· Applications support (Level 5) – Nagios, SIEM· Database administration (Level 5) – Oracle· Supplier relationship management (Level 5)KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES: · Autonomy: Works under broad direction and is fully accountable for meeting allocated objectives.· Influence: Influences organisation, customers, suppliers, partners, and peers on the contribution of own specialism.· Complexity: Performs a range of complex technical and/or professional work activities.· Business Skills: Advises on available standards, methods, tools, and applications relevant to own specialism.
