The Engineering Department in Gauteng has a vacancy for a hardworking, dedicated Qualified Mechanical Fitter to join their team. Our comprehensive in-house technical facilities, staffed by qualified Engineers and Artisans, are responsible for our machines and equipment. The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Manager.POSITION REQUIREMENTSHydraulic and mechanical fault finding on equipment.Remove and replace major components on mobile equipment.(e.g. Hydraulic valves, grabs, hydraulic cylinders, alternators, starter motors)Replace defective/ leaking hydraulic hoses, fittings and seals on mobile and stationary machines.Replace blades and regularly check blade clearance on Mobile Shear machines.Record and control stock levels of oils, hydraulic fittings, hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic pipes and spares that he uses frequently.Greasing and topping up oils on all machines.Carry out routine inspections on machines.Quality controlTroubleshooting machines breakdownsDo planned and unplanned maintenance on machinesQUALIFYING EXPERIENCEA Red Seal Fitter QualificationMinimum of 5 years post qualification working experienceExperience on stationery and earth moving machineryAbility to work in challenging conditionsAbility to work under pressureAbility to communicate on all levelsBe deadline drivenAbility to work independently and in a teamHave a valid code 8 driver’s license and own reliable motor vehicleQUALIFYING ATTRIBUTESMust be able to work with minimum supervisionBasic computer proficiencyEnjoy practical and manual work & be able to work in a pressurized environmentAbility to work independently as well as in a teamSelf-motivated and results orientatedGood communication skillsMust have sober habitsAttention to detailWillingness to work overtime when requiredMust be a team playerSound understanding of an array of tools and technical equipment Please note that the successful candidate will receive a formal, written offer of employment after all applicable pre-employment checks have been completed.
