Job purpose:
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for driving the clients HR strategy and implementing HR initiatives that align with their overall business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting and enhancing workforce capabilities while fostering a positive workplace culture. You will act as a trusted advisor to both management and employees, ensuring that all HR policies and procedures are effectively communicated and enforced.
Human Resources Manager Job Responsibilities:
- Enhances the organisations human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.
- Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
- Supports organisation staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counselling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analysing exit interviews; and recommending changes.
- Establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
- Manages employee pay grades by conducting periodic pay surveys.
- Collaborate with management to develop KPIs aligned with the business strategy, implement, monitor and appraise employee performance.
- Responsible for all company disciplinary actions, including hearings, dismissals, retrenchments, CCMA and Labour court matters. Hearing and resolving employee grievances; and counselling employees and supervisors.
- Staying updated on South African labour laws and ensuring the company adheres to them in all employment practices.
- Implements employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends, recommending benefit programs to management.
- Enforces management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
- Retains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system and keeping past and current records as per legal requirements.
- Overseeing the accurate calculation and processing of employee salaries and deductions.
- Implementing initiatives to maintain employee morale, foster a positive work culture, and encourage employee participation.
Minimum Requirements:
- A relevant degree in Human Resources (an additional tertiary qualification in Industrial Relations and/or the psychological field is advantageous)
- A minimum of 10 years experience in Human Resources and a management position
- Knowledge of all labour related legislation
- Experience with CCMA and Labour Court cases
Skills:
- Communication skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal and facilitation skills to build trust with both management and employees, especially when dealing with sensitive issues.
- Conflict Management Skills: Expertise in managing conflicts and finding solutions that address the concerns of all parties involved.
- Legal Knowledge: Thorough understanding of South African labour laws, including employment equity, Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), and relevant regulations.
- Problem-solving skills: Identifying and resolving employee issues, navigating complex situations.
- Leadership skills: Inspiring and motivating teams, promoting a positive work culture.
Remuneration:
- R40,000 R55,000 CTC (market-related, based on experience and qualifications)
