Work Environment
The work environment characteristics are those encountered in a typical local and remote office environment with IT administration and remote or local support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
All duties take place in accordance with the requirements of the client, Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant legislation. Duties include the following:
  1. Improves system performance and end user experience by identifying repetitive problem areas and recommending possible changes or improvements.
  2. Ensure security and privacy compliance of end-user, endpoint, network connectivity and computer systems.
  3. Timeously install and configure appropriate software, hardware, and equipment, according to company specifications and best practise standards, ensuring license compliance.
  4. Custodian of the software asset registers; accurate allocation, license renewals and billing verification.
  5. Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate software and computer equipment, walk the customer through the problem-solving process.
  6. Provide general remote and onsite hardware and software support, that includes troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions to resolve incidents, requests, and problem tickets successfully.
  7. Ensure all user queries, requests, incidents, related troubleshooting steps and resolutions are captured, validated, and triaged for further processing.
  8. Ensure frequent follow-up, continues and timeous updates on tickets, and feedback through ticketing system, managing all user expectations.
  9. Assign unresolved or more complex incidents and/or requests timeously to the next escalation tier stipulated in the technical support escalation matrix.
  10. Manage the full life cycle of assigned incidents and requests logged on the service desk ticketing system and achieve the set service level agreement KPI.
  11. Maintain and control of all IT inventory (Software and Hardware) assets by providing accurate information when installing, moving, or replacing assets, to update asset registers and inventory lists accordingly.
  12. Maintain and control data centre and security access.
  13. Perform, report, and submit all preventative checklist on all systems as per the stipulated procedures.
  14. Perform proactive monitoring of the ICT infrastructure, by troubleshooting, reporting, escalating, and logging of alerts, and preventative maintenance tasks.
  15. Maintain neat and tidy workspace, data centres, and storerooms.
  16. Maintain confidentiality regarding information being stored, processed, or accessed.
  17. Adapts quickly to changing circumstances, new standards, and requests by company management.
  18. Acts quickly in crisis situations for the company to resume normal operations as soon as possible.
  19. Liaising and working closely with 3rd party vendors, suppliers, and ICT providers for specific requirements.
  20. Contributes to the overall operations of the company by writing, updating, and maintaining internal setup operational procedures.
  21. Create, maintain, and update technical ICT deployment and configuration documentation.
  22. Adhere to and follow the Change Control Process, when doing system or configuration changes.
  23. Analyse, evaluate and propose innovative solutions, modifications, upgrades, or changes to improve and optimise the organisations ICT Infrastructure, business requirements and end-user experience.
  24. Server Administration of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Print and File Sharing, Exchange, SQL, Terminal Services, Microsoft Roles and Services, and any 3rd party applications.
  25. Cloud Administration of Microsoft Azure Roles and Services, Office 365, and any 3rd party applications.
  26. VoIP PBX Administration that includes extension and pin allocations, changes, call charging, 3rd party vendor management, regular entity, and departmental usage reporting.
  27. Infrastructure Backup implementation and Administration to ensure successful and reliable recoverable backups, backup maintenance, correct and accurate sequence naming, and DR Assist with the DR and recovery verification testing process.
  28. Accurate, timeous, and neat monthly reports, including but not limited to project progress and timelines. Escalate hurdles or delays affecting delivery to Management timeously.
  29. Ensure timeous, accurate and up to date user creation, change and termination process is followed.
  30. Accurate, regular review and maintenance of AD objects (Users and Workstations), correct naming convention, container management, user rights assignment, GPO, distribution and security groups, and objects alignment between systems (but not limited AV, WSUS, AD, Payroll).
  31. Ensure accurate, timeous, and up to date Antivirus deployments to all machines and servers in the group, reporting back to the central console with accurate AV console policies and settings.
  32. Ensure accurate, timeous, and up to date windows workstation and server patch updates and deployment within the group reporting accurately back to the WSUS / 3rd party patch management consoles.
  33. Responsible for following and adhering to all company policies and procedures.
  34. Other duties as required to ensure the successful operation of the business and services delivered by the IT Department.
