My client is seeking a Lab Information System Administrator to develop, maintain and continuously improve the laboratory information management system (LIMS) and to give support to internal (Satellite LABS) and external clients.

**Qualifications and experience required**:

- BSC Chemistry/Microbiology (NQF7) or Diploma in Analytical Chemistry/Microbiology (NQF6) or Diploma in Information System/Technology (NQF6).
- 5 years’ experience in a laboratory environment of which 3 years in using Labware LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) as an Administrator.
- Knowledge of ISO 17025:2017.
- Drivers licence

**Responsibilities**:

- Plan for laboratory server, establish the system capacity needs for the laboratory server and report findings to the Manager Laboratory Support.
- Develop, implement and maintain a backup system for laboratory server, ensure system availability.
- Plan for new systems and upgrades, investigate and assess the requirements and prepare the specifications and ensure their effective implementation.
- Ensure that policies and procedures are adhere to, plan and communicate shut downs to laboratory staff, liaise with IT department regarding server platform and network issue resolution.
- Adhere to legislative policies, keep abreast of IT developments with regards to LIMS.
- Adhere to the Accreditation System (ISO 17025:2017), create new laboratory methods within the LIMS including programming where necessary, develop and modify reports using report writing tools supplied by LIMS and link those to LIMS.
- Ensuring the following: the receipt, logging and distribution of samples, issuing analytical reports.
- Perform system health checks.
- Develop, test and implement group policies for the laboratory server.
