Our client is looking for a Used Car Manager to ensure retention and profitability of the profit centre within OEM approved Programme. To be successful in this role, the candidate will have the responsibility of appraising, purchasing, setting standards for reconditioning, displaying (Digital) and merchandising the used vehicle inventory. The ideal candidate combines excellent communication skills with a strategic mindset. Ultimately, the candidate will ensure their area of responsibility meets and exceeds the expectations of our business objectives and contributes to the company's success in the long run.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and establish an OEM standard User Car Program
  • Forecasts goals and objectives for sales, gross and key expenses on a monthly and annual basis
  • Monitor the performance of all used-vehicle sales programs
  • Prepares and administers an annual operating forecast and budgets for the used-vehicle sales department
  • Understands, keep abreast of and complies with national, provincial and local regulations that affect used-vehicle sales
  • Directs and schedules the activities of all dealer website integration
  • Assists Dealers in setting aggressive yet realistic monthly goals and objectives and provides them with the support to meet these goals
  • Ensures proper follow-up of all potential buyers by developing, implementing, and monitoring a prospecting leads sales control system.
  • Develops, implements and monitors a follow-up system for used-vehicle purchasers
  • Maintains vehicle inventory. Monitors customers likes and dislikes, lost sales and dealership sales history and conducts local market analyses to determine which vehicles to stock
  • Processes and check dealer sales tracking
  • Conduct sales training
  • Establishes and enforces product-knowledge standards
  • Oversees the efforts of used-vehicle dealerships to enhance the image and customer satisfaction ratings of the dealership from an OEM perspective and standard
  • Tracks performance of second profit products and campaigns for the OEM
  • Ensures that dealers are informed of all new inventory and current advertising efforts, including special sales campaigns
  • Setting standards for and evaluating all incoming used OEM vehicles.
  • Ensures that cosmetic and mechanical reconditioning is performed within the dealerships and OEM's cost and time limitations.
  • Set up and monitor standard plans, controls and CI for the display of used vehicles on dealership floors.
  • Establishes and controls wholesaling activities on OEM level.
  • Establishes delivery procedures, Sales procedures and evaluation standards, etc.
  • Assists in the development of advertising campaigns and other promotions
  • Keeps abreast of auto auction activity and prices and attends auctions regularly
  • Approves all paperwork from auctions and provides proper documentation on the Offer to purchase
  • Ensure logistical arrangements for possible delivery of sold OEM stock
  • Tracks results of auction purchases and compares gross profits of auction vehicles
  • Develops and maintains outside sources (wholesalers and retailers) for both buying and selling of units
  • Handles customer complaints immediately and according to OEM regulations enforced in dealership
  • Regular reporting to management

Requirements:

  • 4-10 Years related experience and/or training
  • Matric or higher education
  • Valid Driver's license

Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze, create and interpret documents on OEM standard
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Ability to create programs and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management
