We are currently looking for a Network Infrastructure Engineer to support the business in achieving its strategic objectives.

As a Network Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide operational and engineering support across the NTT MEA Service Provider Network elements pertaining to MPLS, Internet, Data Centre, DWDM and SDH infrastructure focusing on the Core Infrastructure. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring that these networks are run optimally and according to standards as well as growing the network to meet customer demands. The engineer will form part of the Networks Infrastructure team.

What you'll be doing

What we will expect you to do:

As a Network Infrastructure Engineer, you will be required to perform the following:

  • Day to day maintenance of the core network comprising but not limited to the following platforms:
    • Cisco: Router platforms running IOS, IOS-XE and IOS-XR software.
    • Cisco: Switching platforms running IOS and IOS-NX software.
    • Cisco: ONS 15454 and 15600 Optical kit (SDH and DWDM).
    • Juniper: MX series router/switch.
    • Tejas: TJ1400, TJ1600
    • Infinera: DTN-X, DNA
  • Standby support of the core Network based on a scheduled roster.
  • Changes on core networking devices as per instruction from the central networking team which is governed by change control procedures.
  • Working closely with all Business Units and the New Business Development team in developing and rolling out new products and solutions.
  • Ensuring that documentation and training sessions are included in the development process.
  • Close interaction with various vendors around enhancing and introducing new hardware platforms and feature sets.

Key requirements

  • At least 2-5 year's experience as an engineer within an ISP, Telco or VPN service provider environment.
  • Must have very strong routing & switching skills. Valid CCNP.
  • A degree or related diploma will be advantageous.
  • Programing skills with the mind set of automation will be advantageous.
  • Related vendor certifications will also be advantageous.
  • The candidate should be willing to learn and grow his skill set to meet the needs of the business.
  • The candidate should be a self-starter.
  • The candidate must be highly energised and enthusiastic.
  • The candidate must be a team player with the ability to learn quickly and work well with minimal supervision.
  • The candidate must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • The candidate must have the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

We will only be considering candidates that currently reside in Durban.
