The Learning Facilitator role is primarily responsible for motivating, inspiring, and empowering their students with high-quality group instruction so that they can reach their full potential.

The incumbent might be in the early years of teaching, and should therefore be someone who is hungry to learn and to lean into the balance Valenture strikes between classroom teaching and collaboration with other professionals in the school.


DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Teaching:

  • Regular contact with students to encourage, motivate and empower them to achieve their best.
  • Employ a variety of dynamic teaching and instructional methodologies, with the aid of edtech tools.
  • Work closely with the Subject Specialist, and Teaching Administrator to develop dynamic resources that support teaching and learning.
  • Consult on the course evaluations process to ensure that feedback is channelled into the Learning Design team according to the ADDIE model.
  • Implementing responsive intervention based on students' progress.
  • Work closely with the Subject Specialist, Teaching Administrator Support Coach, and Support Lead to monitor atrisk students.
  • Report on the effectiveness of planned interventions (according to our remediation policy which uses RTI) and employ bespoke remediation strategies to enable student academic progress.
  • Review holistic performance of students on a regular basis.
  • Facilitate and participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, clubs and student organisations.
  • Develop Cycle test and examinations.

Task-management:

  • Update student records with socioemotional, behavioural and academic insights gained through learner interactions.
  • Meet regularly with the Subject Specialist and Teaching Administrator in your team to identify student progress, trends and at riskstudents.
  • Regularly attend learner progress and intervention tracking meetings.
  • Manage the posting of announcements to the online campus, and respond to discussion forum posts made by learners.

Community of practise:

  • Engage in lesson observations to maintain quality assurance of instruction in line with Valenture's Teaching and Learning approach and to enable personal and peer improvement through feedback, coaching and mentorship.
  • Engage in the systemic integration of scientific educational knowledge, didactics (or pedagogical content knowledge), and practice to enable Learning Facilitators to enhance their pedagogical thinking, evidencebased decision making, and engagement in the professional community of educators.

Requirements:

Key requirements for the role:

  • Teaching or tutoring experience at secondary school level, with either BEd, PGCE or relevant qualification.
  • 3+ years of experience, preferred.
  • Experience teaching the relevant curriculum will be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in working effectively with young people to promote their individual academic potential.
  • Adept in a technological environment.
  • Operationally savvy.
  • Strong administrative and recordkeeping skills.
  • Experience working with assessment data and operational data.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be comfortable working remotely and independently.
  • Stable internet connection, and your own laptop required.
  • Police clearance required.

Tech requirements:

  • A second screen.
  • A stable internet connection (minimum of a 20mbps line).
