Head of Middle Office Operations

Job Overview:


As the Head of Middle Office Operations at an Investment Manager firm, you will lead a critical function that serves as the linchpin between the front office Investment team, Institutional and Retail Client Services teams, System Development team, and the firm's outsourced Fund Administration.

Your role is pivotal in ensuring seamless coordination and execution of various functions within the Middle Office with a large focus on enhancing the efficiency and strategic alignment of our investment management processes.

This is a senior leadership position, reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, that requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of fund administration and the asset management process.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Middle Office aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Formalise structures and standards of practice (SOPs) for Middle Office functions.

Team Management:

  • Lead and manage the Middle Office teaam, ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly defined.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to enhance team performance and individual growth.

Process Optimisation & Technology Integration:

  • Identify gaps in Middle Office functions and implement process improvements.
  • Drive the adoption of the latest technology to streamline workflows and project management.
  • Spearhead the transition from manual spreadsheets to advanced technologies.

Asset Management Oversight:

  • Manage the holistic asset management process, collaborating with various teams as necessary.
  • Collaborate effectively with other teams to maintain a cohesive and communicative work environment.

Function Oversight:
The Middle Office oversees and executes critical functions, incl

but not limited to:

  • Oversee client onboarding processes, incl. asset transfers and related activities.
  • Ensure robust investment compliance procedures are in place and adhered to.
  • Manage regulatory reporting requirements, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Supervise data capturing activities, maintaining accuracy and completeness.
  • Implement and manage processes to meet strict monthend reporting deadlines.
  • Coordinate efforts across teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
