    Job Purpose
  • To facilitate and assist with the integration of climate related risks into the traditional risk types (i.e., credit risk, operational risk, market risk, business risks etc) and assist the Head of Climate Risk to ensure the transition across the enterprise.
  • Test and provide assurance to compliance with the Climate Risk Management Framework across the enterprise
  • To actively manage the Climaterelated risks (physical, transition and liability risks) and opportunities across the bank by providing effective advice, support, monitoring and oversight within the risk governance framework and processes to embed appropriate alignment to global best practices including, inter alia, the Taskforce on Climate related Financial Disclosure (TCFD).

Responsibilities:

  • Evolve, integrate, monitor, and report on the Climate Risk Management Framework (CRMF) in the respective forums.
  • Ensure the annual review of the CRMF.
  • Ensure and assist with coordinating the revision of relevant risk appetite statements, policies and processes.
  • Guide and direct business in integrating climate change risk into impacted risk type risk management processes and frameworks, disclosures, and supporting data and infrastructure.
  • Be climate risk brand ambassador by driving confidently driving awareness and training climate change.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory and industry trends in energy and climate change to develop strategies to ensure Climaterelated risks appropriately address these trends.
  • Ensure the identification of climate change risks, opportunities and trends across applicable risk types and advise management on how to manage these proactively.
  • Understand the link between Climaterelated Risks and financial performance.
  • Assist with building and delivering Climaterelated Risks identification and management training and education programs to staff to promote climate risk management knowledge.
  • Assist with the management of all aspects of Climaterelated risks awareness across the enterprise (including all subsidiaries) to ensure enhanced risk communication and collaboration.
  • Ability to engage professionally and confidently with a wide variety of stakeholders in the private, public and nonprofit sectors, and to build partnerships and manage collaborative initiatives.
  • Understanding of responsible investment, including regulatory regimes applicable to the integration of environmental, social and governance factors into investment decisionmaking; and of the intersection between climate risk and financial markets.
  • Extensive experience in risk management practices, with a focus on climaterelated risk, along with a sound understanding of how financial institutions operate and the key risks they face.
  • Establishing processes to monitor and disseminate transition/physical risk management market standards and market expectations across the bank.
  • Documenting and communicating governance associated with climate change risk management.
  • Manage and maintain the monthly Climate Risk Appetite process and evolve the Group Climate Risk Appetite on an annual basis by engaging with the Risk Appetite team.
  • Assist with the coordination of the Climate Risk Committee (CRC), a Group Executive subcommittee.
  • Assist with the coordination of the Group Climate Resilience Committee (GCRC), a Group Board subcommittee.
  • Monitor, evaluate and comment on the trends of high Greenhouse Gas (GHG) climate quality and the climate risk profile of the Group Portfolio.
  • Report and present accurate and insightful Climate Risk Management Information to internal and external stakeholders (i.e. quality reporting)
  • Minimum Experience Level 3 5 years experience in Risk Management

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
