Minimum Requirements:

  • Hold a relevant Doctoral Degree
  • Have at least 9 years of experience in higher education
  • Professional registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Psychologist
  • Extensive experience in teaching and researching Sport Psychology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Strong record of both national and international accredited research publications, fitting the level of a Professor
  • Experience in supervising postgraduate students, including successful Doctoral supervision at a Professor level
  • Able to demonstrate success in national and international research fundraising
  • Recognized as a reputable scholar in a specific research area (e.g., NRF rating, international keynote speeches)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead academic activities in research, curriculum design, development, and implementation
  • Instruct undergraduate and postgraduate courses
  • Meet the necessary research publication criteria for a professorial position
  • Obtain external research funding and create research initiatives
  • Supervise postgraduate students at all levels and oversee postdoctoral fellows
  • Foster collaborations at institutional, national, and international levels
  • Exhibit academic leadership and contribute to the mentorship of academic personnel
  • Engage with the community as part of teaching and research activities
  • Support University initiatives and take part in administrative tasks within the department, faculty, and university
