The Sales Development Executive will be a key member of the ApplianSys Outbound Call Centre team and will work closely with fellow team members in the SA office and across ApplianSys.

They will support and work closely with the Marketing & Sales team to help reach their objectives and sales quotas.

There is a mix of possible work. Some items will be the highest priority and the primary responsibility of the team (e.g. telesales) - but the quantity of work in any one campaign will be unpredictable and variable. Therefore, the role consists of a portfolio of possibilities. When there is none of the highest priority work, other responsibilities will be to provide additional capacity on work ordinarily done in other sales and marketing teams (e.g. customer account management

Telesales / Lead Generation

  • Typically, contact data will already exist, but in principle may need sourcing.
  • The goal will usually be to set up demos, appointments or calls with a Sales Executive.

Target/Contact Data Gathering and Research

  • The majority of the time, target companies and contacts already exist in the sales database. However, sometime, Targets and Contacts will need to be identified from scratch and populated in the database.
  • Some campaigns are narrow but sophisticated into complex targets such as ministries of education or large US school districts. In cases like this, a value added activity is to gather richer information about target organisations and contacts, to arm senior sales people with valuable information and angles for discussion. This work is already carried out by both marketing and CAM team members, but the contact centre is likely to play a role in this also.

Lead Development/Closing

  • For some types of sale / campaign, the role may in due course extend beyond the lead generation phase into the lead development phase, to carry out additional activities as directed by account reps for example, more detailed opportunity qualification, liaison & coordination.
  • For some types of sales opportunity involving simple sales with an expected/targeted short sales cycle (1 to 2 phone calls), the role may include handling the whole sale through to taking the order.

Customer Account Management

  • When demand for lead generation does not create a fulltime workload, the Call Centre can provide additional capacity to the CAM team. Their work involves contacting customers to drive customer success and satisfaction, obtaining "marketing assets" survey feedback, testimonials, case studies, referrals and so on and soliciting followon sales such as support renewals and upgrades.


ApplianSys is a team-based company with lots of cross-functional working and teams so roleholders will likely in due course be involved in wider sales and marketing groups, or activities such as quality meetings, employee welfare and so on.
