Support System Administrator

Our client is looking for a skilled Systems Administrator to join their team. This is a 6-month contract based in Pretoria or Johannesburg.
The Systems Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring that all solutions provided are reliable and meet Service Level requirements. This involves monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing networked software, hardware, and operating systems. The ideal candidate will be proficient in communication and structured problem-solving to identify and resolve issues promptly, maximizing overall system performance.
- Requirements:
- 2 years' experience in a similar technical support role
- IT Infrastructure: OS (Windows, Linux)
- Virtual environments (VMware or other)
- N+ Certification
- Knowledge of client support management tools (CRM, etc.)
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and debugging live applications
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Experience working in a collaborative team setting
- Strong communication skills for both technical and user-friendly interactions
- Proficiency in Windows and Linux environment administration
- Basic networking skills (e.g. TCP/IP, HTTP)
- Experience in virtualization administration and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of web/application servers (e.g. Apache)
- Understanding of organizational goals and objectives
- Responsibilities:
- Analyze and resolve issues within specified quality and timeframe
- Escalate complex issues to the appropriate teams
- Document technical problems and escalate as needed
- Keep support documentation updated
- Collaborate with network staff to ensure system reliability
- Ensure system connectivity for all servers and applications
- Maintain detailed system documentation
- Conduct tests for system modifications
- Monitor system performance and prepare performance reports
- Carry out maintenance activities following established procedures
- Tools and Documentation:
- Standard Operating Procedures and checklists
- Monitoring and administration tools
- Support ticket tracking tool
- Configuration Management document (HSCG)
- Logbook and Patchbook
- EOL or OES bulletins
