As a Logistics Consultant, your main tasks will involve identifying and reaching out to potential customers and suppliers, negotiating sales agreements and rates, and ensuring budget and margin objectives are achieved. Additionally, you will play a proactive role in liaising with suppliers to guarantee efficient transportation of goods to customers.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 2-4 years of experience in a similar role within the transport sector.
  • Preferably possess a relevant qualification (degree or diploma).
  • Duties include identifying and reaching out to potential customers and suppliers.
  • Negotiating sales agreements and rates with customers and suppliers.
  • Achieving budget and margin targets.
  • Proactively liaising with suppliers for effective and efficient transportation of goods.
  • Thorough understanding of the road transport industry is essential.
  • An existing customer portfolio would be advantageous.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Outstanding customer service and relationship-building abilities.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Well-organized with proficient transaction tracking capabilities.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy.
  • Willingness to troubleshoot operational issues outside regular working hours.
  • Openness to travel when necessary.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Establish and nurture relationships with both new and existing clients, including conducting regular visits.
  • Negotiate new contracts.
  • Discuss transport rates with clients and transporters.
  • Manage allocated volumes.
  • Understand vehicle running costs to determine CPK's.
  • Analyze commodity trends and adapt to market changes.
  • Maintain daily and monthly budget records.
  • Acquire new clients and transporters for the existing portfolio.
  • Adhere to established administrative procedures.
  • Cultivate relationships with current transporters, clients, and truck drivers.
  • Follow up with transporters for accurate truck ETA's.
  • Keep clients informed about cargo status effectively.
  • Foster positive relationships at loading and off-loading points.
  • Identify key individuals at loading and off-loading locations.
  • Plan and predict weekly truck movements.
  • Develop client relations and assist drivers at loading and off-loading points.
