  • Purpose of the role
  • The role of the underwriter is to assess the risk of our clients based on their medical and financial status.
    What will you do?

Core Tasks/ Outputs:

  • 2. Underwrite substandard cases.
  • 3. Underwrite business insurance (Buy and Sell, Key Person etc.).
  • 4. Request medical and financial requirements and/or limit requirements.
  • 5. Placement of cases according to reassurance treaty and related guidelines

Note:

The environment necessitates overtime in peak periods. The amount of overtime hours depends on the business need in terms of the volumes received.

  • The position is based in either Western Cape or Gauteng.

Role Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Grade 1
  • Relevant qualification will be an advantage.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years medical and/or financial underwriting experience.
  • Experience in underwriting processes will be an advantage.
  • Exposure to financial underwriting and business insurance will be an advantage.
  • Exposure to underwriting software/programs will be an advantage.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of prognosis of medical conditions.
  • Understand medical terminology (anatomy and physiology).
  • Indepth knowledge and understanding of financial statements and questionnaires.
