We are recruiting for our South Africa subsidiary, based in Johannesburg, an experienced professional preferably with Eyewear/optical, fashion, FMCG background for the position of Commercial Manager Sub-Sahara Africa.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Grow ownership on the assigned territories, define growth strategy and key initiative working closely with Safilo key functions and partners/clients.
  • Leverage networking and market intelligence to provide valuable insights and up to date information to the Company.
  • Develop understanding of local business dynamics, scout and leverage opportunities, be vigilant on potential risks acting fast to prevent worsening scenarios.
  • Support Region leadership development with commitment in regional activities and deadline, responsiveness and ownership in providing valuable contributions (such as one off activities, best practices and cross country projects)
  • Define structured commercial plans with clear actions in line with country priorities and with target of Net Sales, Gross Margin & Brand mix; lead and direct the team efforts towards priorities and successful execution, putting in place any corrective action in order to ensure the sustainable and profitable growth, working closely with Country Director and other function involved in coherence with the defined strategies and guidelines.
  • Drive brand portfolio development, define doors expansion and lead execution growing expertise and competence.
  • Monitors key performance indicators, benchmark the results of each area and key customers/channel evaluating the sales teams' performance
  • Active contribution to sales planning to optimize forecast and relative volumes for the assigned brands in line with assigned targets and operative choices.
  • Provides the assigned commercial teams with dedicated tools aimed at maintaining a high customer service level within the relevant country and contribute in evolving the digital approach in the assigned markets/channels to evolve the Company commercial proposition with the latest technological tools.
  • Work closely with Financial and Accounting teams at local levels to evaluate and monitor the commercials results and progression for assigned commercial area.
  • Recruits, manages, motivates, coaches and develops own staff.
  • Builds a high energy sales team environment with all direct reports, peers and team members as well as with brand partners. Develop strong relationships with key partners and accounts
  • Defines and assigns the work development plans to his operational and functional reporting line, ensuring the company targets achievement.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience.
  • Knowledge on fashion/branded products, eyewear/optical sector is preferrable
  • Strong Knowledge of South Africa and Sub Sahara markets
  • Knowledge of commercial needs per channel/market/geographic area
  • Knowledge of marketing and communication techniques
  • Knowledge of sales force management
  • Knowledge of customer segmentation and targeting
  • Knowledge of consumer and shopper behavior in the region
  • Knowledge of business analysis methods and techniques
  • MS Office
  • English Language
