Team and Shifts:
  • Staff to Manage: 100 employees.
  • Shifts: 2 shifts (primarily working during the day shift but responsible for planning for the night shift).
Machinery On-Site:
  • 22 CNC mills/lathes
  • 4 CNC gear grinders
  • Heat treatment plant with laboratory
  • 22 gear shapers/gear cutters
  • 20 hobbing machines
Daily Duties:
  • Overseeing the workshop floor to ensure correct parts are on the appropriate machines.
  • Ensuring staff follow proper manufacturing procedures.
  • Liaising with production, maintenance, and orders/deliveries managers.
  • Problem-solving with the maintenance manager on the shop floor.
  • Communicating with customers about overdue or problematic items.
  • Ensuring staff correctly fill in job cards.
  • Maintaining high housekeeping standards among staff.
  • Ensuring health and safety standards are upheld.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree, diploma, or trade test in Mechanical Engineering with managerial experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in the manufacturing and production field, preferably with exposure to the mining, agriculture, or construction industries.
  • Ability to read complex engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in using measuring equipment and experienced with metal machining (turning, milling, heat treatment).
  • Background in manufacturing and production.
  • Skills in production planning and goal setting.
  • Knowledgeable in health and safety, as well as employment laws.
  • Basic financial knowledge is beneficial.
