Roles and Responsibilities of the Business Development and Revenue Enhancement Strategist

  • Explore and recommend the efficient ways of utilising existing funds.
  • Conduct analysis of the funding environment locally, continent, and International.
  • Develop a database of funding entities and their funding criteria and requirements (government, NGOs,
Philanthropists, Private companies).

  • Encourage inkind contributions to the organisationdevelop innovative fundraising initiatives (bequeathing, selling
biomass, corporate lodges).

  • Clearly identify, scope and cost Ezemvelo funding requirements.
  • Write generic and specific funding proposals.
  • Constantly engage with donors and facilitate constant communication with them.
  • Liaise with Ezemvelo donor structures i.e. Honorary Officers, and other philanthropic structure.
  • Provide an analysis of donor funding received by Ezemvelo.
  • Develop a system of efficiently managing donor funds.
  • Develop an innovate idea to spend the donor funding (cutting down procurement red tape) efficiently and
effectively.

  • Execute a skills transfer (capacitate) to identified Ezemvelo project managers.
  • Identify and execute various revenue generation strategies.
  • Investigate and identify incentives for private companies to donate to the entity (BEE score, tax rebate and climate
change goals).

  • Organise business investment events and funding tours.
  • Oversee seamless execution of the commercialisation strategy and related activities.
  • Working with Executive Management, devise and implement commercialisation projects and activities, report and
undertake necessary financial forecasting.

  • Develop and implement necessary monitoring and evaluation systems for commercialisation projects and activities.
  • Conduct research to identify optimisation of existing tourism products, including establishment of new ones.

Requirements:

Attributes and skills

  • NQF Level 9 qualification MBA/Business Development/ Accounting/Economics or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in public sector with at least 5 years senior management experience in financial
management environment or revenue generation and management as well as stakeholder management at a senior

strategic / political level (provide CV & traceable reference letters of previous work).

  • Experience in audit/ evaluating/ assessing (and recommending the necessary improvement) government revenue
generating systems, processes, controls, projects etc.

  • Writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience in executing and managing high impact events, projects / programmes involving strategic stakeholders
locally and internationally.

  • Communications and negotiation skills (i.e. Lobbying and fundraising)
Thorough understanding of national and provincial government, in particular, state-owned entities' policies, laws,

regulations and governance structures.

management of state's assets (i.e. Public Private Partnership, Concessions, outsourcing etc.).

  • Analytical skills, focused on business and project yield, with emphasis on revenue/economic, social development,
and value-chain perspective.

  • Programme, project, financial and contract management skills / expertise.
  • Networking and persuasion skills.
  • Knowledge of government, NGO and private sector stakeholders and associated protocol.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Project.
  • Financial report writing.
  • Attention to details.
