RESPONSIBILITIES:


To assist the technical services division in carrying out quality and safety inspections in the allocated area of responsibility in accordance with statutory and quality standards.

To enable the inspector to achieve the objective ,he/she will need to attend to the following:

  • Inspect the maintenance execution during and after completion to ensure that the work is done as set out in the maintenance;
  • Do a condition assessments on the plant and equipment after the maintenance execution has been done;
  • Identify and investigate causes of breakdown maintenance and advise on solutions;
  • Do plant performance assessment on plant and equipment;
  • Do onsite risk assessments related to specific maintenance activities;
  • Review applicable safe working procedure and revised the documentation where needed;

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • National Diploma in Electrical Engineering;
  • 3 years' experience in a maintenance workshop environment after obtaining the qualification;
  • A valid trade test certificate
  • Electrical Wireman's license
  • Valid Driver's licence.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Reading, understanding and interpret electrical drawings;
  • Knowledge of methods of electrical construction;
  • Knowledge of power tools and equipment;
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements;
  • Knowledge of safe work procedures relating to electrical work;
  • Problem solving and analysis skills;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Customer focus and responsiveness ;
  • Team player;
  • Planning and organising.

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

  • Risk assessment training and experience;
  • Quality assurance training and experience;
  • Health and safety training experience;
  • Site inspection training and experience.
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
