Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the bridge design team and manage the design process of bridge projects.
  • Manage the bridge team and ensure that project budgets are adhered to.
  • Design bridges and associated road structural elements.
  • Manage the allocation of resources for bridge projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and technical reports.
  • Conduct feasibility studies as required by project managers.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in bridge design.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Technologist (Pr Tech) registration with ECSA.
  • Registered Bridge Inspector certification is an advantage.

Experience

  • At least 12 years of experience in bridge design.
  • Detailed knowledge of finite element design software such as Sofistik, Prokon, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Experience in preparing contract documentation, specifications, and schedules of quantities.
  • Knowledge of SANRAL processes is an advantage.
  • Experience in bridge hydrology and hydraulics is an advantage.
  • Experience in design of feature bridges is an advantage.
