Summary of position


The principal objective of the Sales and Service Representative is to encourage maximum sales of the Company's
Hydraulic and Industrial Hose and fittings products in the assigned regional territory and/or customer listing, in accordance with laid down policy.

The incumbent is to ensure customer requests are professionally handled by providing accurate product information and price quotations to customers.


At all times build prestige and goodwill for the company and implement an account management plan to develop a positive long-term relationship with assigned accounts and the Company.


Summary of duties

  • Develops annual sales plan, including sales budgets, promotions, and account management activities.
  • Collate customer, competitor, and market information as basis from which to set goals for the effective growth of the Company.
  • Develop a sound knowledge of the territory/customer base and its potential.
  • Protect and maintain existing business and obtaining new customer business either directly or indirectly.
  • Submits sales activity and forecast reports to the Sales Manager.
  • Maintain daily planner & diaries/day books and record all information on Microsoft Outlook.
  • Respond immediately to customer inquiries/information needs and provides positive, courteous service to customers.
  • Ensure client awareness of how the Company operates and the services and products available to them.
  • Aim to achieve or exceed set sales target monthly and annually.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
  • Undertake involvement in the Company's Quality Assurance System by supporting the quality objectives by.
  • Initiating action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities.
  • Identify and record issues.
  • Initiate, recommend and or provide solutions to issues.
  • Deal promptly with any request, query, or complaint from customers. Where such matters are beyond the incumbents scope and authority, pass onto the appropriate person and followup to finalisation.
  • Ensure that expenses are kept within reasonable limits and provide receipts for all claims via Expense Report Management System.
  • Ensure the Company's policies and procedures are always observed.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Be familiar with advertising policy, materials and sales aids and ensure that they are used correctly.
  • Ensure that all pricing is kept up to date on the
    Pronto matrix system in line with company policy.
  • Coordinates activities with Customer Service, Sales and Marketing, Warehousing, and Finance.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of all products and services in both
    Hydraulic & Industrial
    hose and fittings products is desirable.
  • Excellent personal presentation with good communications skills.
  • Competent in assessing customer needs and identifying sales opportunities.
  • Excellent problemsolving ability.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Solid time management skills.
  • Excellent organising skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Demonstrated sales skills and achievements in the
    Hydraulic and Industrial hose and fittings environment for a sustained period are desirable.
  • At least 3 to 5 years' experience in specifically
    Hydraulic and Industrial hose and fittings environment.

Knowledge of hydraulic and Industrial systems and machinery is essential.

  • A Grade 12 qualification is a definite requirement.
  • Tertiary education in the sales field is desirable.
  • Valid driver's license is essential.
  • Own reliable mode of transport.

Special Requirements

  • Must reside in the Gauteng area.
