JOB TITLE:
TECHNOLOGY MANAGER - AUTOMATION PRODUCTS, AFRICA


Key performance indicators in addition to order intake targets, include achieving or exceeding the business plan for Net Sales and Profit Margin.


The individual will use both their sales and technical acumen to close deals and will lead Metso's sales efforts in the Africa sales region and will attend to both end user and ECP/EPCM customers alike.


Additionally, the Technology Manager will develop and maintain internal and external relationships in their own area of responsibility and work across teams to contribute to the overall growth objectives of the business.

In this position, you will report to Vice President - Minerals Sales, Africa.

This position is mainly located in Centurion, Gauteng.

TEAM YOU BELONG TO


You will join the Mineral Sales Team and work closely with internal // external stakeholders, such as Customers, Engineering and Drawing Office, Proposals and Commercial, Project Delivery, Account Managers, Product Support, Procurement and Separation Business Lines.


WHAT YOU WILL DO
Working with the senior sales management team to contribute to the Annual Sales Planning process to amongst other things, set sales targets and to define strategies to meet the targets and to develop key initiatives for the product portfolio
Achieving or exceeding agreed upon targets by working on existing opportunities in forecast and simultaneously nurturing opportunities in the hot list to move them up the sales funnel
Using the Customer Relationship Management (Sales Force) tool to capture and to provide accurate updates to enable its effective use to manage the sales funnel
Participating in weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales review meetings
Demonstrating a good understanding of the market, competitor position and activities, key economic indicators and to synthesise the data for use in developing or enhancing our go-to-market strategy and to feedback to the Business Line and Market Area teams
Conducting regular customer visits (50 % of the role's time) throughout the sales region in conjunction with Account Managers & Territory Managers and other key role players as required
Conducting customer and industry technical presentations in addition to internal training as required
Preparing customer visit reports in accordance with established format
Performing opportunity bid-no-bid in accordance with established formats and processes
Performing opportunity pre-bid tasks in accordance with established format and processes
Using established processes to handover successful bids to the Project Execution team
Understanding customer's value drivers, review enquiries (RFQs) and determine the scope of supply, and selection and sizing of equipment to provide the most appropriate process solution
Taking ownership of scope of sales cases as per established processes
Ensuring value co-creation is effectively done with customers to improve conversion rate
Negotiating terms and conditions for simple sales cases with the support of the legal department
Must be able to use or be trained in using simulation, equipment sizing and product configuration programs
Working in collaboration with Account Managers, Proposal Team, and relevant technical disciplines /experts to develop and execute on win strategies for the various sales opportunities
Key link and liaison with the Separation Business Line to ensure technically compliant bids
Building a strong network of and cooperate with all stakeholders (Customers, Technical Support, Proposal management, Account Managers, Procurement, After-Market Services, Project Delivery etc.)

WHO YOU ARE
Matric (Grade 12)
Technical / Mechanical or Mineral Processing qualification
At least 5 years of proven track record in a Technical or Sales Management role for Automation technologies
At least 3 years of exposure to Mineral processing operations or product management role in similar industry will be an advantage
Experience regarding Request for Quotation and Proposal technical review
Experience in working in a customer-focused and fast-paced professional environment
Good knowledge of Sales Force software or other Customer Relationship Management software, Equipment Sizing and Simulation tools will be an advantage
Computer literate in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Good knowledge of pricing process an advantage
Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust
