Summary

Our client is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager (BDM) to contribute to the growth of Africa's leading online music service catering to the mass market. The company boasts over 20 million monthly users in Africa, primarily in Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, and Kenya. They offer a music library featuring +150,000 tracks from African musicians and 1.7 million international songs licensed from top groups like Warner and Universal. With a dedicated team of 40 staff dispersed throughout Africa, the company is on a trajectory of significant expansion. Their vision includes reaching 50 million users by June 2025.

  • Access millions of songs for free streaming and download, both local and international.
  • Enjoy the latest releases, DJ mixes, playlists, podcasts, and music news on their platform and Android app.
  • Monetize the platform through ad sales and telco-bundle subscriptions.
  • Ensure fair compensation for rights owners through revenue sharing.

The company went public in September 2020, debuting on Nasdaq First North Growth Markets in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Markets: Africa with a current focus on Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa

Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Description

Key Objective: Drive revenue growth by formulating multinational Joint-Business strategies for the company's brands in Sub Saharan Africa, such as Coke and Unilever.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive business development strategy for Sub Saharan Africa.
  • Engage key stakeholders, clients, and partners.
  • Close deals with significant organizations, telecom firms, and other potential collaborators.
  • Show a history of successful business development in the African market.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated business development experience with a track record of deal closures.
  • Familiarity with the music streaming industry and the African market.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation abilities.
  • Proven history of forging strategic partnerships and acquiring clients.
  • At least 8 years' experience in digital product sales and pipeline management.
  • Thorough grasp of digital marketing and paid media.
  • Established networks in Africa within the advertising and marketing sectors.
  • Analytical mindset focused on understanding client needs and obstacles.

Contract Type: Permanent or Fixed Term contract

Offering: Hybrid

Monthly Salary: To be discussed in local currency

Qualifications: MA in Marketing, Commerce, or equivalent

Travel required: Yes

Nationality: Preferred to be in SA (Not mandatory to be of SA nationality)
