SA Women's XV Head Coach Department: Rugby

The role is open for an experienced Female Head Coach to join the team and maintain high standards in the National Springbok Women's program. The goal is to lead the team through World Cup cycles, ensuring a consistent Top 8 global ranking.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leadership

  • Lead the National Springbok Women's program, overseeing World Cup cycle planning, event execution, and overall performance management.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders within and outside the program, including Provincial Unions and International teams.

Rugby Direction

  • Develop an annual program aligned with program goals, tailored for female athletes and staff.
  • Create and manage the team Game Model and success principles.
  • Implement collective attack and defense strategies.
  • Oversee coaching staff roles, responsibilities, and training.
  • Conduct player reviews and opposition previews.

Selection and Recruitment

  • Collaborate with National Selectors to pick the best players for international fixtures and World Cups.
  • Establish selection criteria and manage player debts based on the Game Model.
  • Communicate selection decisions to players and stakeholders.

Staff

  • Promote a culture of excellence among the team.
  • Provide guidance to assistant coaches, analysts, and support staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews and foster staff development.
  • Ensure effective communication within the staff.

Experience & Expertise:

Educational background:

  • SARU Level 3 Coaching qualification or equivalent.
  • Deep understanding of Elite Rugby demands.

Experience:

  • 5 – 8 years' professional coaching experience.
  • Preferably experience in coaching female athletes.
