The Meetinghouse Facilities Department (MFD) provides and maintains facilities for members where they worship, teach, learn, pray together, make and renew covenants, and receive sacred ordinances. The incumbent in this position will support the MFD Area Plan in harmony with the Principles and Guidelines for Providing Meetinghouses, in planning, providing, and preserving places of worship according to the needs of the Church in the Africa South Area. Contribute in providing meetinghouses and offices in the right locations, in all the countries of the Africa South Area.

AS THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Draft and document design proposals for projects throughout the Africa Area.
  • Assist in achieving established schedules, budgets, and scope compliance, by understanding of client programs.
  • Produce design details, specifications, and technical drawings for ongoing projects.
  • Maintain and update our current Standards for facilities within the Area.
  • Research and present information to aid in establishing appropriate direction for project development.
  • Participate in the research and analysis of systems, products, and processes available in the architectural industry.
  • Train and vet consultants and contractors on church standards of quality.
  • Maintain the area facility database by producing building Capacity Calculations
  • Research and analysis of systems, products, and processes available in the industry that may or may not prove beneficial and appropriate for use on Church projects.
  • Assure continuous expertise in architectural practice by attending to Continues Professional Development (CPD) requirements.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERTISE:

  • Must hold a current / valid temple recommend and/or be worthy to hold one.
  • Strongly prefer Bachelor's degree in Architecture, coupled with a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience, and professional registration is preferred.
  • Must be skilled in AutoCAD skills in other drafting software like Revit and Sketchup.
  • Must be able to assist design and documentation teams of projects of average complexity; meet realistic schedules and budgets.
  • Must be willing to travel throughout the Africa South Area
  • Ability to communicate professionally with employees, priesthood leaders, contractors, and vendors.
