This position helps provide and maintain facilities which give Church members places where they can worship, teach, learn, pray together, make and renew covenants, and receive sacred ordinances. Each Church facility that is built and/or maintained should 1) Provide a spiritual setting for members to worship, and 2) Present an image of reverence and dignity in the community.
- Working under the direction of the Manager, the Area Architect carries out a variety of moderately complex architectural assignments, exercising considerable latitude and independent judgement in developing solutions and initiatives. Provides services in research, and design, for a variety of new and remodelled building types.
- Collects and analyses technical data to determine project requirements and reviews specifications, materials, equipment, estimated costs, and schedules. Prepares and maintains records and reports.
- Assists Manager in design and technical aspects of architectural projects. Understand and follow client programs and assist clients in establishing well defined scope of work, schedules, budgets and other expectations. Assists in providing design management by reviewing design development, by monitoring progress, and reviewing the work of all disciplines.
- Assures that all project requirements are properly accommodated by performing an objective analysis and conducting effective meetings with the project team and management.
- Reports project progress regularly.
- Improve architectural skills and expertise by attending seminars, reading books, trade journals, newsletters, and being active in professional architectural societies.
- Participates in the research and analysis of systems, products and that may prove beneficial and appropriate for use on projects.

- Must hold a current / valid Temple recommend and/or be worthy to possess one.
- Education - Bachelor of Architecture or Masters of Architecture.
- Experience - 7 years of post-education experience practicing architecture.
- Professional Registration: Must be a professional registered Architect, or if unregistered, the incumbent must obtain registration within two years of employment with the Church.
- Skill Level - Able to lead and direct design teams, oversee the development of designs and review construction documents for projects of average complexity. Able to evaluate the performance of project teams.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Proficient with computer programs such as Computer-aide design software and other document transfer systems.
