Reporting Line: Managing Director

Overall Technical Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Technical department and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Supervise Technical department staff, oversee daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and ad hoc activities.
  • Participate in audits and maintain adherence to KPI targets.

Overall Maintenance Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Maintenance department and ensure adherence to all regulations.
  • Supervise Maintenance department staff and oversee day-to-day operations.
  • Participate in audits and monitor KPI targets.

Additional Specific Responsibilities:

• Electrical :
- Handle single and three-phase connections on various equipment.

• Hydraulic :
- Troubleshoot hydraulic issues and repair/replace components.

• Pneumatic:
- Troubleshoot pneumatic problems and perform necessary repairs.

• Electromechanical :
- Conduct pump servicing and troubleshoot heat pump errors.

• LPG :
- Identify and resolve burner faults and perform maintenance on LPG equipment.

• Welding:
- Ensure weld quality meets standards and perform testing.

• Testing:
- Apply knowledge of relevant standards and conduct in-house testing.

• Research and Development/Project Management :
- Manage customer-specific requirements and project tasks.

Maintenance:
- Utilize CMM software for predictive and preventative maintenance.

Bills of Materials :
- Create, update, and manage bills of materials.

Information and IT –
- Oversee IT-related tasks and document control.

Support:
- Create and maintain spare parts lists and manuals.

• Energy:
- Track and control usage of various resources.

Required Expertise:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proficiency in CAD, APIS, CMM, and ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of automotive industry standards and regulations.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in mechanical engineering and maintenance, including 5 years in senior management.
  • Previous experience in seat manufacturing would be beneficial.

Required Attributes and Skills:

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Demonstrated proactiveness and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work accurately, efficiently, and meet deadlines.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluency in English with good grammar, and knowledge of isiXhosa is a plus.
