A diversified financial services group is currently looking for a Billing Operations Manager to be responsible for setting up a competent operational team, incorporating existing external billing processes into an established process and managing the day to day operations of the full spectrum billing function.

The individual will be responsible to plan, direct and coordinate all billing operations.

They will also be responsible for designing, implementing and enforcing policies and procedures, as well as streamlining effective processes across multiple collection streams.

This position is highly visible and requires a strong leader with the ability to prioritize, plan, and direct the department.

The individual should preferably have a good understanding of the following concepts:

  • Collection systems and processes (debit orders e.g. ACB and DebiCheck)
  • Salary deductions, government and commercial
  • Analysing big data (Qlikview / SQL or other)
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Presenting results to the Executive Team / Excellent communication skills
  • Designing processes and scoping requirements
  • Project Management / Managing IT projects
  • Insurance / Banking / Finance

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES, NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Develop, implement and oversee collection processes and systems
  • Recruit a strong and competent team
  • Contribute towards the achievement of the company's strategic and operational objectives
  • Examine monthly data/reports and use them to improve processes and strategies
  • Ensure stringent quality controls are in place and functional
  • Ensure timely closing of monthend group billing information
  • Effectively plan and manage departmental expenditure
  • Plan and implement monthly billing operational strategies
  • Set and effectively manage priorities for the department
  • Resolve operational issues arising from actions or events leading up to and following from the billing process
  • Effectively manage operational and project based deliverables
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive experience in collection regulations, processes, systems and operations
  • Strong industry relationships e.g. banks, PASA and other regulatory bodies
  • Qualification in business / operations management or related field preferred
  • Relevant IT skills (MS Office etc.)
  • Proven work experience in a management role
  • Adequate knowledge of organisational effectiveness and operations management
  • Familiarity with business and financial principles and practices
  • Working knowledge of budgets, forecasting and metrics
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to motivate direct reports
  • Proven track record for improving process efficiencies and solving problems
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions.
