Purpose

To manage electrical and civil projects works and ensure safety, quality and performance targets are achieved so as to position the Company as a world-class railway system operator. To develop and espouse high level standards and practices throughout the Maintenance Division. To create and update all project work flow processes and procedures. To manage the completion of all non-core renewals and change proposals projects Assist in reviewing of wayleave applications as per the GTIA drop-down agreement Assist in reviewing of Revenue Enhancement project as per the REA. To monitor the progress and completion of projects in accordance with project management life cycle. To manage the Civil and Electrical Project Engineering Technicians. To ensure seamless travel for our customers that is safe, reliable, comfortable and friendly. To participate in system improvement with Gautrain. To manage the asset portfolio within the financial controls and limits set by Project Manager To perform other duties as assigned.

Principal Accountabilities 

To deliver successful completion of all projects to be added to the operation and maintenance of Gautrain assets. To develop appropriate safety, quality and performance standards for managing projects. To ensure the application of the appropriate safety standards for managing projects. To achieve the quality and performance targets set for the Gautrain assets. To lead and participate in investigations arising from projects activities and facilitate the implementation of recommendations. To set up and update project schedules and implementation strategies. To serve as a liaison for vendors and sub-contractors in the Project Department. Participate in Procurement and Finance processes.

Specific Responsibilities

Creation of all engineering standards and procedures to execute project works. Provide Project Management Programme in all new projects including renewals and change proposals. Ensure suppliers and subcontractors services are scrutinized and all required contractual notifications and documentation are submitted. Advise Line Manager of anomalies in documents, specifications and Drawings. Updating of as-built drawings affected by renewal and change proposal projects. Raise change proposals for current and historic renewal projects to document changes made on renewal projects. Manage project work progress and quality of work on site. Ensure adherence to agreed programmes by holding regular meetings with sub-contractors and suppliers. Ensure subcontractors and suppliers adhere to project specification. Ensure adherence to health, safety and environmental requirements. Liaise with Maintenance Division Units with regards to the project progress and completion. Monitor program and key deadlines. Maintain record (file) of all documentation pertaining to specific project. Devise and implement quality assurance and quality control procedures. Handover maintainable new projects to Operations Maintenance Units. Participate in system improvement processes. Direct the performance of service and ensure the compliance of safety and quality standards set by the Company. Ensure strategies and plans are developed to meet all departmental objectives and continually improve the standards. Adhere to Project budget and to report any deviations. Ensure all environmental and safety rules are respected and alert Line Manager of any environmental and safety issue. Provide guidance and leadership to all sub-contractors and suppliers. Maintain good staff morale and job satisfaction and promote productivity movements in the department. Compile monthly progress reports on all projects Review and maintain quality documentation in line with Quality Management System requirements. Conduct regular inspections and audits on suppliers and subcontractors. Undertaking any other duties as assigned

Profile

Educational Level

B. Tech Civil/Electrical Engineering.

Essential Technical/ Professional Skills/Qualifications

Basic knowledge of Project Management and planning principle Safety management Civil Design and Installation experience Electrical Design and Installation experience Construction experience General technical knowledge AutoCAD experience is essential.

Years of Experience

At least 5 years working experience in Project Coordinating works. Three (3) years’ experience of managing teams.

Computer literate and report writing AutoCAD skills Microsoft Office applications Possess analytical and critical ability Ability to communicate with staff of all levels Possess leadership quality. Ability to delegate, supervise and control. Innovative, creative and strategic thinking Problem solving ability. Negotiation and decision-making ability Possesses self-drive and enthusiasm. Abilities to supervise, control and issue written technical reports.
