Job Description

A fast-growing and passionate technical engineering company heavily invested in cutting-edge technology, they are currently looking for a Credit Risk Analyst, this role is to assist in building and to deliver a range of data-driven models across the entire credit life cycle.

Position Overview:

Our client seeks a meticulous and analytical Credit Risk Analyst, with a proven track record of innovative risk management solutions, to join their risk management team. The successful candidate will be crucial in assessing and mitigating credit risk, ensuring their lending operations' financial stability and profitability. This position involves evaluating the creditworthiness of potential borrowers, developing risk models, and making informed recommendations based on comprehensive data analysis. 

Your daily adventures include: 

Credit Assessment:
  • Monitor, interpret and make recommendations to refine the organisation's automated credit risk decisioning eco-system in line with risk appetite and credit policy.
  • Perform routine evaluations of the portfolio health, together with prevailing trends on customer financial health

Risk Modelling:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain credit risk models to predict potential default rates and losses.
  • Develop, implement and maintain credit impairment models to support the organisation’s provisioning of credit losses.
  • Utilise statistical and financial modelling techniques to enhance risk assessment processes.
  • Continuously refine risk models based on new data and emerging trends.

Risk Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Monitor existing loan portfolios to identify early warning signs of potential credit issues.
  • Generate regular risk reports for senior management, highlighting key risk indicators and trends.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely risk reporting.

Policy Development:

  • Contribute to the development and refinement of credit risk policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Provide recommendations for improving credit risk management frameworks.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with underwriters, loan officers, and other internal stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Communicate complex risk assessments and model results to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing overall risk management strategies.


Requirements

What it takes to succeed: 

  • Postgraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus.
  • Proven experience of at least 3 years in credit risk analysis, preferably within the lending or financial services industry.
  • Strong proficiency in financial analysis, credit assessment, and risk modelling techniques.
  • Experience in risk model development and deployment.
  • Strong proficiency with credit risk software and tools (e.g., R, Python).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
