About The Role
As the
Hotel Financial Controller
, you will manage the hotel's entire financial operations across a fast-paced, high-volume
4-star hospitality environment
. Your work will ensure the accuracy of
hotel accounting
, smooth financial processes, and strong compliance across all departments, from Rooms and F&B to Spa, Engineering, and Revenue.

You will play a key role in
financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit readiness, and cost control
, helping guide the hotel's commercial performance while ensuring the integrity of our financial systems.

This position requires an expert who understands how
hotel systems, financial controls, guest operations, and revenue streams
connect.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounts Receivable and Payable: Manage and oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments, collections, and accurate reconciliations.
• Cash Book Management: Supervise daily cash book entries, ensuring all transactions are recorded and balanced against bank statements.
• Financial Records: Record, classify, and reconcile all financial transactions in line with accounting standards (IFRS for SMEs).
• Financial Control and Balance Sheet Integrity: Maintain the integrity of all balance sheet accounts and ensure full accuracy of asset and liability values.
• Management Accounts: Prepare and review monthly management accounts, verifying the accuracy of all supporting schedules.
• Cost Management: Review financial performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support operational efficiency.
• Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with relevant financial legislation and manage internal controls to reduce risk.
• Financial Systems Optimization: Support improvements to financial systems and tools that enhance accuracy, reporting, and hospitality workflow efficiency.
• Statutory Returns: Prepare and submit VAT, tax, and statutory returns accurately and on time.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist with preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports.
• Stakeholder Liaison: Collaborate with auditors, hotel management, and external partners to ensure smooth financial processes.
• Team Leadership: Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to accounting staff, encouraging continuous learning and excellence.

Qualifications And Experience

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent (Completed)
• Minimum three years' financial experience within a four- or five-star hotel environment (essential)
• Opera PMS (non-negotiable)
• Experience with hospitality systems (Micros, hotel revenue systems, accounting platforms)
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity
• Ability to work under pressure and meet structured deadlines
• Excellent communication skills and professional conduct
