What you become a part of
:

The successful candidate in the role shall assume full responsibility for all financial aspects of the consumer healthcare business across South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda, Congo (DR), Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Nigeria, Ghana, and Angola. This involves analyzing financial performance, advising senior stakeholders on the analysis, findings and recommendations to achieve the most profitable results for the business. The incumbent will have a dual responsibility to Chief Executive Officer (Consumer Health) and Chief Financial Officer.

Additionally, the incumbent will provide oversight of tax affairs (direct and indirect), statutory accounting and financial reporting, management accounting and ensure adherence to all local fiscal and corporate regulations.

What to expect
:

  • Own the business plan/ budget and support the consumer healthcare business in achieving budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Ensure efficient and effective management of Operating Unit's (OU) finances through all necessary financial controls, systems and processes and ensures accuracy and integrity of the OU financial records.
  • Lead the preparation of periodic management reports, monthly performance reviews and provide ad hoc analysis on business initiatives. Provide insightful drivers of performance to senior stakeholders across the business.
  • Provide guidance and advice, related to the management of cash flow, cost controls and expenses for different departments of the BU identifying potential financial opportunities and weaknesses and recommending corrective actions.
  • Provide business insight to internal stakeholders and decision makers with insightful information to optimize decisions and challenge when required.
  • Evaluate and appraise investments, capital expenditures and financing of projects and provide guidance and recommendation.
  • Carry out analysis of the business including external environment to support sales growth and improve/protect profitability.
  • Develop KPIs to report business performance measured against targets, strategies, and trends.
  • Provide ad hoc modelling and analysis, develop scenarios to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues or drive better management decisions.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely MIS reporting (MS Nav/ Power BI) with a thorough and detailed analysis of variances as per internal guidelines and timelines.
  • Conduct IRR analysis and feasibility studies for new business opportunities and provide analysis to business units to assist decision making.

Essential education, experience & skills
:

  • CA/ CPA professional qualification (non-negotiable).
  • 15+ years of progressive financial management experience with minimum 10 years in FMCG in a multi country, matrix environment, preferably including emerging market countries (Nigeria, Kenya, RSA etc).
  • Good all-round knowledge of local corporate and income taxes, local GAAP and/or OHADA Accounting Standards.
  • Experienced in ERP systems (preferably Oracle)- both use and implementation, proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Access.
  • Strong experience in managing complex forex exposures, maneuvers for the business.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations essential.
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • Be open to extensive business travel.
