Salary: R20 000 – R30 000 p/m (depending on experience)

Role OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Commercial Underwriter with strong communication and relationship-building abilities. This role combines underwriting expertise with new business development, acting as the link between brokers, clients, and internal operations. You will be responsible for analysing risk, providing quotations, activating policies, and ensuring exceptional service delivery.
Key Responsibilities Analyse and assess new business risk proposals
Provide brokers with accurate quotations on commercial lines
Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients
Ensure policies, quotes, and amendments are processed correctly and on time
Apply underwriting knowledge in line with insurer guidelines
Ensure renewal reviews and endorsements are completed within deadlines
Manage policy terms, calculate premiums, and apply discounts where mandated
Activate new policies and send welcome packs to brokers/clients
Handle dual insurance processes, cancellations, and re-underwriting of high-risk clients
Request and monitor surveys, implementing corrective underwriting as needed
Maintain accurate administration, recordkeeping, and compliance with company procedures
Minimum Grade 12 (Degree/Diploma in Insurance, Risk Management, or related field = advantage)
At least 2 years' experience in commercial underwriting
Strong knowledge of commercial, domestic, body corporate, and heavy commercial vehicle policies
Experience with policy administration and CRM systems
Ability to analyse actuarial/statistical data and apply underwriting guidelines
Able to manage multiple brokers, clients, and policies simultaneously
Strong administrative and reporting skills
Attention to detail with high levels of accuracy
Emotionally stable and able to work under pressure
Excellent listening and client service skills
Professional, open-minded, and practical approach

Hierdie rol kombineer onderwriting-kennis met nuwe sakeontwikkeling, en dien as die skakel tussen makelaars, kliënte en interne prosesse. Jy sal verantwoordelik wees vir risiko-analise, die voorsiening van kwotasies, die aktivering van polisse en die verseker van uitmuntende dienslewering.
Sleutelverantwoordelikhede Ontleed en evalueer nuwe besigheids-risikovoorstelle
Verskaf akkurate kwotasies aan makelaars op kommersiële polisse
Bou en handhaaf sterk verhoudings met makelaars en kliënte
Verseker dat polisse, kwotasies en wysigings akkuraat en betyds verwerk word
Pas onderskwrywingsriglyne korrek toe volgens versekeringsmaatskappy se beleid
Voltooi hernuwings en wysigings binne gestelde sperdatums
Bestuur polisvoorwaardes, bereken premies en pas afslag toe waar gemagtig
Aktiveer nuwe polisse en stuur verwelkomingspakkette aan makelaars/kliënte
Hanteer dubbele versekering, kansellasies en heronderskrywing van hoërisiko-kliënte
Versoek en monitor opnames en implementeer korreksies waar nodig
Handhaaf akkurate administrasie, rekordhouding en voldoening aan maatskappy-prosedures
Minimum Graad 12 (Graad/Diploma in Versekering, Risiko-bestuur of verwante veld = voordeel)
Ten minste 2 jaar ondervinding in kommersiële onderskrywing
Sterk kennis van kommersiële, huishoudelike, liggaamskorporasie- en swaarvoertuig-polisse
Ervaring met polisadministrasie en CRM-stelsels
Vermoë om aktuariële/statistiese data te ontleed en onderskrywing-riglyne toe te pas
Kan verskeie makelaars, kliënte en polisse gelyktydig bestuur
Sterk administratiewe en verslagdoeningsvaardighede
Aandag aan detail en hoë akkuraatheid
Emosioneel stabiel en kan onder druk werk
