Fourchem is a South African based distributor of globally sourced chemical ingredients, primarily for the

personal and home care industries in South Africa and our neighbouring countries. We represent several

large producers from across the globe, including USA, Europe, India & Asia.

The Role Outline:

We are currently working on a new business model in the form of an agency agreement with one of the

world's largest Oleochemical companies who trade bulk volumes (thousands of tonnes) of raw materials

to 4 main buying groups in West Africa, who in turn procure for 14 different factories producing personal

care products for a large portion of the African continent. Our principal has existing relationships with

these companies and sells a fixed basket of products to them annually on a quarterly negotiated basis,

so from that perspective this role would be about maintaining their share of spend with these 4 key

clients. The principal would invoice and manage supply chains directly, but they pay us a commission for

handling the relationships and being the face of the client internally. There would also be a new

business development component both in terms of offering these 4 clients a range of products that

Fourchem can source from our network that the key principal is unable to supply, as well as developing

new clients in central and east Africa with the same proven product range and supply chain solutions.

The Person:

First and foremost, the person will need to be a
fluent French speaker
, given the region of focus. They

will also need to have a strong character with true grit. The grit part comes purely from travelling in

Africa which is not easy. Lots of local bureaucracy, difficult travel conditions in hot places with wild

traffic and this all requires someone who is open minded and flexible, does not lose their cool quickly

and has the patience to understand how 3rd world countries work. Of course we don't expect our team

to stay in flea bag hotels, we know the decent hotels to use and the right local transport options so

safety is always at the forefront of our minds. But our extensive Africa experience working across the

continent for many years has proven that this is not a job for an office jock, this is the job for an

entrepreneurially minded person with a backbone

The Experience:

Ideally we would like the right person to have some commercial working experience and understanding

of the business principles of trading products on scale. Experience within international markets is a

bonus, but we would like to see real world work experience and associated knowledge gained.

The Package:

There is some flexibility for the right person, but this is a role that will suit someone with lower/middle

management experience who is looking to grow their career further, so we expect to be looking at a CTC

salary range of between R400k – R600k per annum. All travel/accommodation costs will be covered by

the company.

The start date will only be in early 2026, we are not in a rush and want to find the right person.
