About Health Intelligence: Business Intelligence
The Health Intelligence (HI) – Business Intelligence is part of the Discovery Health Company. We are responsible for building information assets that are subsequently used in various reporting channels to deliver information to our wide range of stakeholders. The information assets that we are building are not only limited to report delivery but are also integrated information assets to support the data scientists, risk analysts and the data analytics teams.

Role Overview
An Intermediate BI Analyst Developer bridges the gap between business needs and data-driven solutions. They are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining BI solutions that enable data analysis, reporting, and decision-making across the organization.

Key Purpose
Data Analysis & Interpretation

  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand KPIs and reporting needs.

BI Solution Development

  • Design and develop the final asset (report, cube, both dynamic or static dashboard) using Microsoft reporting tools or any of the standard reporting tools.
  • Perform unit testing.
  • SQL scripting using platforms like Microsoft SQL, Oracle.

Data Management

  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across BI platforms.
  • Follow data governance and security best practices.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and business units.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on BI tools and reports.
  • Gather feedback and continuously improve BI solutions based on user input.

Performance Optimization

  • Optimize queries and reports for speed and efficiency.
  • Maintain documentation for BI solutions and processes.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated with BI trends, tools, and technologies.
  • Participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Contribute to the development of BI standards and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of basic data warehousing concepts e.g. star schemas.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand Entity-Relationship diagrams.
  • Strong SQL query writing ability (across database environments e.g., Oracle, SQL Server etc).
  • Strong report design skills, preferably with Microsoft SSRS and Power BI.

Education And Experience

  • Degree in Computer Science or IT.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Developer or a related field.
