Job Summary:

A company based in Springfield Park (Durban)
in the Printing and Packaging Sector is looking for an experienced
Estimator
to join their sales support team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately preparing cost estimates and quotations for print and packaging jobs, ensuring profitability, competitiveness, and alignment with client requirements. This position requires strong analytical ability, excellent attention to detail, and an in-depth understanding of print production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for printing and packaging jobs based on materials, machine time, labour, and finishing requirements.
  • Work closely with the Sales, Production, and Procurement teams to confirm job specifications, lead times, and pricing accuracy.
  • Review client briefs, artwork, and technical requirements to determine the most cost-effective production method.
  • Update and maintain pricing templates, supplier rates, and material cost databases.
  • Ensure all quotes are completed within deadlines and reflect correct margins.
  • Assist with job costing and post-production cost analysis when required.
  • Support management in monitoring pricing trends and profitability.
  • Ensure all estimates and documentation comply with ISO and company procedures.

Required Abilities:

  • Strong numerical accuracy and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical print and packaging specifications.
  • Excellent time management and organization.
  • High attention to detail and consistency.
  • Strong communication and teamwork with internal departments.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet quotation deadlines.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Matric (Grade 12) essential.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as an Estimator in the printing or packaging industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software (experience with Prism or similar advantageous).
  • Sound understanding of printing, finishing, and packaging processes.
  • Knowledge of ISO documentation and workflow procedures advantageous.
  • Own reliable transport essential.

Salary (CTC) depending on experience.

A methodical, reliable individual with a "can do" attitude and strong commercial awareness will be ideal for this role.
