We're looking for an immediately available qualified CA(SA) with a Big4 audit background and strong freight forwarding experience to take on a pivotal finance role within a leading logistics group. This is an opportunity for a driven finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment and can deliver both technical precision and commercial insight.

Immediate availability is essential – this is a non-negotiable requirement.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee billing for freight, customs duties, handling fees, and agent commissions.
  • Ensure accurate cost allocation between shipments, clients, and routes.
  • Track shipment and customer margins.
  • Analyse variances between quoted and actual freight costs to identify improvement areas.
  • Manage supplier and customer accounts, including payments to airlines, shipping lines, and customs agents.
  • Ensure accurate invoicing and timely collections.
  • Handle multi-currency transactions (USD, EUR, GBP, ZAR).
  • Manage bank guarantees, customs deposits, and optimise working capital.
  • Verify import/export documentation and VAT/duty treatment.
  • Maintain compliance with SARS, ITAC, and international trade regulations.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts by route, client, or region.
  • Conduct profitability and cost analyses for decision-making
  • Work with systems such as CargoWise, ShipShape, or SAP TM, integrating logistics and accounting processes for seamless job costing and reconciliations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • CA(SA) qualification – registered Chartered Accountant (South Africa).
  • Big 4 audit firm experience (Deloitte, PwC, EY, or KPMG).
  • 3–6 years post-articles experience in freight forwarding / logistics.
  • Advanced Excel and ERP proficiency.
  • Excellent financial reporting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Must be immediately available – this is non-negotiable.
