ROLE OVERVIEW

Our client is looking for an experienced Financial Manager to join on a contract basis within a leading financial services organisation. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, maintaining compliance, and supporting decision-making processes. Prior experience in the insurance or broader financial services sector is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Prepare and review management accounts, financial statements, and variance analyses.
  • Support consolidation and reporting processes across multiple entities or regions.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial controls.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to provide insights and recommendations for strategic decisions.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and other regulatory bodies as required.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support finance transformation or system implementation initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively in both French and English with in-country teams, particularly across Francophone regions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Honours or postgraduate qualification advantageous).
  • Professional qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) preferred.
  • Minimum 5–8 years' relevant experience in financial management or financial control.
  • Strong background in financial services; insurance industry experience highly desirable.
  • Proficient in financial reporting systems and MS Excel.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in French and English (both written and spoken) - Non-negotiable
  • Able to operate independently and manage deliverables within a project-based or contract environment.

Contract Details

  • Duration: 6 months with the option to extend further
  • Start Date: Immediate or as soon as possible
  • Working Arrangement: Flexible (remote or hybrid. Would prefer someone to be based at their JHB offices with a 3 day in office working arrangement)
